Charlie + Lucy

“Oh Charley, I think I am in love,” Lucy said
And flung herself desperately across the bed.
And Charlie, from the floor, through naive eyes
Looked on in sudden pleasure and surpise.
“It’s as if I’ve searched the whole world for a man like this and there he was, all the while, how did I miss
him; someone I already knew,
Suddenly I’m seeing him anew, you know?
And finally I have the courage to show -”
Suddeny as if a hero, to her side lept Charlie:
“Lucy, darling, I know its me!”
I felt it all along, I always knew,
and now I know you feel it too,”
Cried Charlie, “to you only I can be true!”
And beamed him panting upon her bed,
waiting for a kiss, but instead:
“Charlie, sweetheart, I wasn’t talking about YOU…”
