Going to Latitude? Based on this year’s line up, we are – definitely!
Florence + The Machine - led by fashion forward Florence Welch - will be headlining the Obelisk Arena on Friday night in their first ever festival headline slot! It’s been hard to escape Florence of late, but with a machine this well-oiled, maybe we don’t want to! Her catchy pop stormed the airwaves throughout 2009 and she recently triumphed at the Brits winning Best British Album, the chance to see her live, will be the icing on a very big cake for 2010.
Also headlining are cutesy Scottish duo Belle and Sebastian (step into my office baby - yeah okay if you insist!) as well as New York quartet Vampire Weekend.
But we don’t just care about the music, oh no. To be honest, we’re more concerned with the comedy which has successfully had me holding in a wee for hours and hours not wanting to miss even one act, year in year out! This year Emo Philips, Ardal O’Hanlon (that’s Father Dougal from Father Ted - don’t type cast him), Rich Hall and Tommy Tiernan headline the Comedy Arena.
Moving on to Theatre - all the big names will be there; Royal Opera House, Royal Shakespeare Company, The Opera Group and London Sinfonietta, Bush Theatre and Lyric Hammersmith to name a few. Also on the bill is Suffolk based Mouth to Mouth who performed at The New Wolsey Theatre’s Pulse Festival.
Whatever you’re into, Music, Theatre, Film, or Comedy, we are sure will have something for you.
