Shameful Thought

Time passed has left
A mute silence and
Ubiquitous gap bereft
Of meaning or passion. Bland,
Unfulfilled, waiting like the alligator
For the opportune moment.
Once corollary, love meets gentrificator,
Becomes likeable to the concept of rent.
For in doing nothing, exuding
Amiable charm, an unwelcome
(If deserving) friend losing
His way stumbles from home.
Something eternally nascent becomes caricatured,
Guilt offers his mocking, repeated word.
