It’s coming up to exam time and though you’ll obviously be making the best use of your study leave, if you do need a break from revision (or perhaps a gentle exercise to get your brain in gear) why not try something creative and take part in Take a Break magazine’s Young Fiction Writer of the Year Competition?
The competition challenges those aged 8-18 to write a short story between 500-1000 words on any subject that interest you.
There are three categories- 8-11, 12-14 and 15-18, one winner will be chosen from each group as well as runners up.
Winners will receive a 13” Apple Macbook, a trip to London, a chance to meet author Anthony Horowitz, as well as getting to see their story in print in Take a break’s December Fiction Feast.
So why not give it a go?

Oh, and yes, I am on work experience at the magazine and shamelessly abusing IP1’s publicity potential.
