About the cast…

KATE JACKSON GROUP
http://www.soundcloud.com/katejackson
In the latter part of the last decade, the void left by the The Libertines’ implosion saw the UK indie scene swamped by 3rd-rate mockney copyists, all saucer-eyed, stinking of armpit and totally devoid of ideas.  Into the breach leapt The Long Blondes: a band so in love with ideas and steeped in pop culture they actually formed in a library.  Dressed, at all times, to kill, they blazed a trail through the indie World, with razor-sharp, angular, hook-laden tunes married with diamond-sharp, shamelessly intelligent lyrics, delivered with insouciant cool by Bury St Edmunds-born Kate Jackson.  The World fell in love with the band, and as the official Best Dressed Woman In Rock, Kate became a style icon, making the NME Cool List, featuring in Vogue and, in a moment of sheer pop wonder, appearing on Never Mind The Buzzcocks alongside cockney wideboy Danny Dyer.

When tragedy forced The Long Blondes into early retirement in 2008, Kate laid low, bided her time and very quietly began working on solo material with former Suede guitarist-turned-super producer Bernard Butler.  In the meantime, fads have come and gone; the NME Cool List finds itself populated by men who think it’s fine to dress like you’re in Miami Vice; boring copyists rule the World once more; and back into the breach steps Kate Jackson, armed with the first fruits of her Bernard Butler collaboration (new single ‘Wonder Feeling’/’The Atlantic’, released – on 7” only, of course – on Monday 5th December 2011), a brand new, supercharged backing band the Kate Jackson Group (featuring members of Black Sands and The Vitamins), armed to the teeth with an arsenal of enormous 60s pop-meets-70s glam-meets-rockabilly TUNES, and once again ready to show the World at large how it’s really done.

FEVER FEVER
http://www.feverfever.bandcamp.com
Hailing from Norwich, Fever Fever are one of the most exciting bands to emerge from anywhere, let alone East Anglia, in years.  Coming on like a riot grrrl Beastie Boys, possessed of enormous charisma and wielding a stack of equally enormous tunes, Fever Fever are that rarest of things: a band who remind you exactly why you fell in love with rock ‘n’ roll in the first place.  See them and believe.

LEWIS MOKLER
http://www.lewismokler.bandcamp.com
It takes a hell of a chap to win a Band Competition armed only with an acoustic guitar, but then BurySOUND 2011 Winner and Newmarket native Lewis Mokler is not your average chap.  Inspired to start writing songs by his hero Ed Sheeran, Lewis’ DIY determination and effortless charm has seen him amass a huge following in just a few short months; the safe money is on 2012 being Year of the Mokler.

CATHEDRALS & CARS
BurySOUND 2011 runners-up Cathedrals & Cars make gorgeous, pastoral acoustic indie to ease you into a festive mood, perhaps with a delicious mince pie and some ale*.

Guest DJs: SCARE THE NORMALS / THE VIRGIN MARY
The Virgin Mary herself will be treating you to indie/alternative and pop hits between the bands – expect lots of Kylie – while DJ Underground and Ill Bill from legendary hip-hop punks Scare The Normals will be tearing it up on the ones and twos into the wee small hours.
