Danza Contemporanea de Cuba returns by popular demand following their outstanding visits in 2008/2010. Hailed as “the nurturing mother of dance in the island”, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba features some of the most prominent figures of contemporary dance in Cuba. Staying true to their roots, faithful to the art form and yet ever expanding to incorporate the latest dance trends from all over the world, Danza Contemporanea is one of the most innovative dance companies around at the moment.
For over 50 years Danza Contemporanea have produced dancers of the highest quality, with all the passion and heat of the Cuban soul. The importance of dance is not to be underestimated with the people of Cuba and the many different nationalities that have been attracted to the island. With elements of Afro Caribbean and Spanish fusions, this is emotive, evocative and inspirational dance at its best.
The programme for the UK 2012 tour will include the world premiere of a work by the renowned Israeli choreographer, Itzik Galili, who in 2006 was made a Knight of the Royal Order of The House of Oranje Nassau by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands for his contribution to Dutch dance. This is also an opportunity to catch the incredible Mambo 3XX1 again – if you missed it the first time around, don’t miss it again!
Danza Contemporanea de Cuba are coming to Snape Maltings Concert Hall on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 May at 7.30pm. To book tickets for these or any other Aldeburgh Music events, please visit the website at http://www.aldeburgh.co.uk or call the Box Office on 01728 687110
