Free events at SPILL festival for students and those under 26!

OK, SPILL festival is about to knock Ipswich for six with over 100 events across five days, but what is SPILL festival, I hear you cry?

SPILL is an international festival of performance, installation, film, discussions and parties – all kicking off on October 29 in merry Ipswich!

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Surrender’ and anyone who’s passed through the centre of Ipswich is sure to have noticed the banners popping up around the town. With events in all shapes, sizes and spaces, students can try before they buy as many events are FREE, such as Siren by artist Ray Lee at Ipswich Arts Centre. (Yes, Ipswich has an arts centre, well an arts centre in progress, anyway).

Any of you out there have an idea for a new Live Art project? Well, for anyone after tips ranging from how to bag the cash to making your ideas a reality, and advice to research and develop your beer-mat dreams, the live art surgeries at Ipswich Art School Gallery are for you.

Check out the SPILL Salons for talks such as The Safe Word Is… with artists Ron Athey, John Bowers and Mehmet Sander who join Heather Cassils to discuss adapting the body and psyche as form, training, consent and taking risks as content.

Intrigued? We are.

Check out the full programme of events here, and remember, all the events mentioned here are FREE to attend for students and those under 26!
