International Women’s Day Platform Event at Jerwood DanceHouse

On Sunday 8th March International Women’s Day is being celebrated globally. A fundraising event at Jerwood DanceHouse on the Ipswich waterfront will be celebrating women and local talents. The event will be raising money for Survivors in Transition (SiT), an Ipswich-based charity who help adults who were abused as children. Their work involves empowering survivors to take control of their lives by providing vital support including counselling and therapy services which are tailored to each individual. Imogen Sheeran (Ed’s Mum!) sells her beautiful jewellery to fundraise for SiT and this will be available to buy at the event.

Platform’s event is free and everybody is welcome. The focus will be on celebrating women, local businesses and creative talents. There will be fashion, craft and gift stalls in the foyer area and live acoustic music in the danceeats! café.

The stalls offer a range of delights; LoveOne sell gorgeous gifts with a vintage quirk and beautiful pieces for the home. Ami Branch will be selling some truly unique items including record bowls, hair wraps and teacup candles.  I Make Fun Stuff will be on hand providing handmade goodies including accessories and homeware. A local designer will have her bespoke Queerhawk t-shirts on sale and Warp & Weft will be selling their upcycled textile jewellery. The Puzzle Styling boutique will feature gorgeous accessories and clothing and Fat Bottom Girl’s classy and stylish clothes will be available. Just As Nice will be selling lovely handmade bags crafted from children’s clothes. There will also be greetings cards, stationary, kitchenware and skincare products available. The shop Cake and Catwalk will be open for an extra touch of glamour!

Musicians confirmed include Meg Burrows, Jordan Hay, Mischa Pearson, Ian Clayton, Helen Woodbridge and Rusty Box.
