Without any other local acts on the bill, as far as we can tell, Izzy’s Daughter, SuperGlu and Frett will be Suffolk’s sole musical representation at the festival, performing on the Lake Stage.
SuperGlu
For SuperGlu frontman, Ben Brown / Mick Squalor, it’s a swift return to the festival after making headlines at last year’s Latitude with on and off-stage antics, as part of Dingus Khan. SuperGlu are a more family- and radio-friendly proposition, though, so we’re unlikely to see hell-raising from Ben this time around, at least not on the same scale. Expect lots of fun and energy from the band, backed up by tight and well-polished pop/rock.
Izzy’s Daughter
Highly professional outfit Izzy’s Daughter recently added some new material to their IP1 profile, and when we heard it we immediately tweeted about it. Their latest single, Madeline, released in April, revealed a band at the peak of their powers. Trippy, haunting, and ethereal, the track is the perfect soundtrack for a laid-back and sun-drenched Latitude festival.
Frett
Last but not least, Frett are winning fans and critics over at every turn with great tune after great tune, and are an excellent choice to play the festival. Featuring some very nice fret-work, among other elements, the duo of Simon Lucas-Hughes and Elliott Buckle create simple, well-structured and beautifully-layered electronic-indie.
Make sure you offer your full support to each of these talented acts if you’re attending this year’s festival, and pop along to see them live in action on the Lake Stage.
