Could you be the winner of BurySOUND 2016?

BurySOUND turns 18 this year and will be celebrating with a launch party at The Hunter Club later this month.
The battle of the bands competition first rocked onto East Anglia’s music scene in The Corn Exchange back in November 1997.

In just five years it had established a growing reputation for showcasing new music acts with the Late Radio One’s John Peel describing Bury St Edmunds as ‘the new Seattle’ and Rolling Stone magazine crowing Bury the World’s number two ‘culture capital’ pipped only by Liverpool.

Now – as it rapidly approaches its eighteenth birthday – East Anglia’s best known music competition BurySOUND is firing up once more.

Last year’s winners The Virtues will be headlining a special launch gig at The Hunter Club on 19 September.
They will be joined by previous BurySOUND bands Atorc, Code of Conduct, Fortunato, The Staycations, and War Waves.
And next year it could be you. Entry for next year’s competition is now open – entries can made at our website at . The deadline for bands and acts to enter BurySOUND 2016 is Friday 4th December.
A series of three heats will be held in February with the final on 4 March.

Cllr Joanna Rayner, St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture said: “BurySOUND continues to be popular amongst young people. It provides a showcase to emerging talent looking to get their first break into the local music scene and I am proud that St Edmundsbury is able to organise this as part of our rich mix of cultural events.”

The competition is being sponsored by St Edmundsbury Borough Council, The Hunter Club, The Apex and Washing Machine.

We are also looking for additional sponsors – please contact Simon Pickering on 01284757077

Meanwhile the launch party takes place at The Hunter Club in St Andrews Street South, Bury, from 6.15pm to 10.45pm. Doors are open from 6pm to 10.30pm. Entry £5 on the door, or £4 if you click attend on the facebook page ( please see below)
