We co-founded the promotions company the Horizontal Strand to bring bands from around the world to perform in Suffolk. So far we’ve brought bands to play Ipswich from the urban jungle of Bethnal Green to the wilds of upstate New York.

The next band we’re putting on are called Sic Alps, a lo-fi psychedelic noise-rock band from San Francisco. They have supported Pavement and Sonic Youth on their recent tours. Sic Alps will play on the bank holiday weekend, Sunday 28th August in PJ McGinty’s. Bands start at 4:30pm, a sort-of half day event. We’re having six support bands play including Father Murphy from Italy and local artists from Southend, Lowestoft, Woodbridge and Ipswich.

Other bands we’ve had play are MV & EE (on Sonic Youth’s label), Honkeyfinger (a one man blues band) and John Peel favourites Trumans Water, an indie rock band from San Diego. We’ve had countless local bands including Colchester’s finest gloom folk band – The Doomed Bird of Providence.
