biography 2012
After 10 years in a rock band, Pete Thompson (aka play_rewind_eject) had not only gathered a large amount of stories of life on the road but also a mountain of untouched songs and new ideas. It didn’t take him long, from the band ending, to get the itch for making music again. It was in 2010 that play_rewind_eject was born.
Since then the prolific songwriter has recorded and released his debut album, Never Before but Maybe Again and also a follow up EP, Chelsea Bikes. Both of which he gave away for free in order to grow his fan base and spread his music far and wide.
Pete, whose music has gained comparisons to U2, The Cure, Bob Dylan and even Buddy Holly, is constantly performing live shows as well as spending time in the studio. “I gig a lot, while on record my songs are produced with a full band vibe, live it’s just me and my acoustic guitar. It’s great, I can perform at the drop of a hat from a pub to a basement in a house!”
Pete recorded and produced his new album, Back to Forward, himself and worked with top mastering engineer Pete Maher (U2, The Killers, Razorlight, Jack White) on providing the finishing touches. “It’s a very British sounding album…it’s got big choruses and guitar solos which are great!” enthused Pete Maher on hearing the finished album. With accolades like this from industry professionals the future is looking bright for play_rewind_eject.
