The Sustained
Profile
The Sustained in were born around 1980 when Niall, Guy and Olley got together at Olley’s folk’s house in Ipswich and played around with a few old songs. Mostly Paranoid and White Christmas. After a while a few songs got “written”, Let Me Talk being one of the first and most well known.
Bassist Wolfie joined and they were ready to hit the town.
Youth club gigs went down well, as did the various hippy type fairs around Suffolk.
After a phone call to Geordie, The Adicts manager, they persuaded him to come along to a rehearsal to listen. This led to them supporting the likes of The Adicts, Abrasive Wheels, Action Pact, English Dogs, 13th Chime, UK Subs, and they gathered quite a following.
One demo was recorded rather badly by a couple of incompetants.
Exit Wolfie and Jerry joins.
A few more gigs followed, then a gentle decline until the band went its seperate ways.
Gav, Guy and Niall ended up in a poppy punk outfit called Adrenalin, then Gav went off to DJ in Spain leaving Niall and Guy to join the remnants of Panorama in Black to form Spy Real Fire.
Jerry and Olley spent time in Extreme Noise Terror. Olley, by then known as Dazzle, became one of the founder members of Perfect Daze.
27 years have past since anything was heard of The Sustained…...
During a day out in South London in July this year, Guy and Olley comsumed many gins, and something happened….
Exactly 27 years after they last played they are going to take the stage somewhere in Ipswich in January - but , need help with the following: VENUE - Can anyone suggest a venue (other than the obvious)? SPONSORS - The gig will be in aid of PAPYRUS - A charity devoted to giving support ...for those dealing with suicide, depression or emotional distress - particularly teenagers and young adults - RAFFLE PRIZES etc - to raise even more money.
