I have just published my first novel through the self publishing route (http://www.lulu). The story is called ‘Echoes’ and deals with themes pertinent to and connected with homelessness / people smuggling and the underworld . The story is set within a world of people trafficking and follows the journey of a married Kurdish couple to these shores. As the story develops a number of journeys within journeys are revealed to the reader as both these characters and the other main players are caught within a struggle to survive and the central character is falsely implicated in the murder of the Kurdish man. The story is a fast paced psychological piece and weaves it’s way through the inner worlds of people trapped in this illicit underworld. Touching themes of homelessness, domestic violence and power and dis empowerment it is a very contemporary story.

Echoes is a fast paced psychological thriller set in East Anglia and London and focuses on a number of characters embroiled within a world of people trafficking. The story follows the journeys of its flawed characters through this shady world and begins with the central character, Alexander, being called back to the family home in London by his sister Isla. Alexander is quickly drawn into his brother in law’s business of people smuggling and inadvertently becomes implicated in the murder of a migrant. In an effort to save himself and his sister Alexander begins a final journey which will change everything, forever.
 
Travelling through a landscape of troubled lives and broken hopes the tale is driven by a journey which all the characters are part of. The central character of my story, Alexander, experiences a synesthesiac-like condition whereupon auditory inputs have the effect, for him, of producing visual representations of the object producing the sound. For Alexander this specifically means that, on hearing voices he can generate visual images of the faces to whom the voices belong. This feature is integral to the story and within the overall tale provides a dimension which grows and changes over time.
