Injustice to Canines

All day they talk
Incessantly
To one another
And trust me
My hearing
Is superior
Yet when I bark
To offer my input
On the state of affairs
The temperature of my paws
The emptiness of my stomach
That strange sensation
I am told
“Shush!”
Admittedly
I speak a one-word language
Its many tones and variations
Are lost on
Human ears
But “Shush”?
